Labels & inscriptions: 'Z 29757' inscribed in black ink on the side of the first tooth from the left. A small square cream label is pasted on the same tooth and reads [printed in black ink:] 'Oc' [added in pencil:] 'I' and [added in black ink:] 'Z 29757'. A small cream label with decorative blue border is pasted on the last tooth from the left and reads [handwritten in black ink:] '[??]07'. Two Von Hügel's inscriptions in pencil: [first tooth from the left:] 'Vua Sasale' and [last tooth from the left:] 'A.v.Hugel'. A small metal label previously attached to the cord reads [handwritten in white ink:] 'O.X.907.1.H.'.

Necklace (sisi) Eight very large whale teeth pierced at the top and strung on a cord formed of two strands of 3-ply plaited coir (one thicker than the other), a strand of twisted hibiscus fibre and several length of thin cane. Several pieces of barkcloth are woven around the cord and between the top of the teeth. The top of the first five teeth from the left is pierced with an additional hole at the front. The fourth tooth from the left also has an additional hole at the back. The tip of all the teeth is pierced. Apart from the first and fifth teeth from the left, all the teeth are very scratched at the front and back. Very heavy. The teeth are of a cream colour at the front (some of them slightly more yellow) and a rich honey colour at the back.
