Description (CMS Description)
Necklace (sisi) of 35 small sperm whale teeth pieced at the top and strung on a cord of 2-ply twisted coir. The cord seems to be too short for the number of teeth which results in some of the teeth no resting flat but on top of their neighbour teeth. The cords is knotted at both ends. At the front and back of the necklace, the surface of the teeth is of a shiny honey colour. 'Z 29749' inscribed in black ink on the side of one of the end teeth. A small rectangular cream label attached to the necklace reads [handwritten in black ink:] 'Z 29749' on one side and 'Stanmore 1923' on the other.
