Description (CMS Description)
Necklace (sisi) composed of 23 sperm whale teeth pierced at the top and strung on a piece of European string. At the front and the back, the surface of the teeth is of a light honey colour. Very heavy. 'Z 29409' inscribed in black ink on the side of one of the end teeth. A large rectangular cream label reads [handwritten in black ink, possibly Hayter:] 'FIJI. Necklace of sperm whales teeth. Not registered, part of Miss Stewarts gift 1937-321-325' and [added later:] 'Z 29409'.
