Description (CMS Description)
Small salt basket formed of a thick glass jar, no lid, chipped at the top, encased in coconut palm leaf basketry (some strands dyed red). Underneath the tin, the basketry forms an openwork grid. The weaving is much tighter around the body of the tin. At the top, the vegetable fibre threads are gathered in a bunch, plaited in a 3-ply plait, curved down to form a loop and tied with a piece of coconut palm leaf.
