Catalogue card 1 reads [stamped in black ink:] 'Z 3684 FIJI'. [typed:] 'Nandrau Viti Levu. Tholo North. Head rest of wood. "Kali". From the "Knollys" collection. Obtained by Captain Knollys at Nandrau Viti Levu, he was , apparently, attached to the governors staff in the late 1870s. Bought Webster London. 1904.' [stamped in black ink:] 'THE VON HÜGEL COLLECTION'. [in pencil in the bottom left corner:] '16/30'. [stamped in blue ink in the bottom right corner:] 'SHOW CASE NUMBER 16'. [added in pencil:] '3925'. [stamped in black ink:] 'CUMAA 16 JUL 1987 TRANSCRIBED'. A small round red sticker pasted to the card.

Headrest carved from a solid piece of medium brown ?vesi wood, on three feet. The bar is boat-shaped (26.2 cm long x 6.3 cm wide max.). The legs all project downwards from underneath the bar, in the centre. Each leg is cylindrical and has been pierced underneath resulting in many very deep cracks. Each leg is cracked its whole length. The sides and top of the bar are also very cracked. One of the pointed end of the bar is chipped.
