Catalogue card 1 reads [stamped in black ink:] 'Z 3676 FIJI'. [typed:] 'Kandavu Island. Fiji group. Head rest, "Kali". Made of whale bone. (Modern in 1875). A. von Hugel, circa 1875.' [in pencil in the bottom left corner:] '16/25'. [stamped in blue ink in the bottom right corner:] 'SHOW CASE NUMBER 16'. [stamped in black ink:] 'CUMAA 16 JUL 1987 TRANSCRIBED'. A small round red sticker pasted to the card.
Catalogue card 2 reads [handwritten in black ink:] 'Z. 3676 KANDAVU ISLAND. Head rest, "Kali."Made of whale bone. (Regarded as modern in 1875.' Show case number 16.' [in pencil in the bottom left corner:] '16/25'.

Description (CMS Description)
Headrest of whale bone. The bar is rectangular (42 cm long x 4.8 cm wide) with a rounded top and ends slightly curving upwards. At the back of the bar, two rectangular lugs are carved at either end, pierced and lashed to semi-conical legs with 3-ply plaited coir.
