Club of dark wood, bowai. Flared convex head. The upper part of the shaft and the head are inlaid with small circular ivory, shell and ?teeth pieces forming a continuous line running from one side of the club, across the head and down the other side. 43 inlays were originally present, 2 now missing. 32 inlays of ivory (possibly 35 if those across the head are ivory - much whiter colour than the other ones), 3 shell-heads inlays and 2 ?tooth fragments inlays. The shaft is circular in section and flares towards the butt. Concave butt pierced with 2 oblique holes (one broken).

[added in pencil:] 'Na Rewa, not the big Rewa R evidently, better leave out of catalogue. See also Z-3208. Roth says there is a village called VUNOA in the north of Viti Levu, but that is not known that there is a Vunda in the Rewa River area'. [stamped in black ink:] 'THE VON HÜGEL COLLECTION 1875'. [in pencil in the bottom left corner:] '9/46'. [added in pencil:] 'OX 128 H' and [crossed off:] '59'. [stamped in black ink in the bottom right corner:] 'SHOW CASE NUMBER 9'. A small round red sticker pasted to the front of the card.
