Club of dark wood, totokia ('pineapple' club). The head is cylindrical and carved with 10 rows of finely cut spikes (some chipped). From the centre of the head projects a waisted and tapering beak (about 11 cm long). An 'X'-shaped mark (possibly intentional) on the concave part of the head. Four circular marks burnt on the concave part of the head The shaft is curved at the top and circular in section. The handle (lower part of the shaft) is carved with Maori-style patterns in low relief. Circular convex pommel.

Catalogue card 1 reads [stamped in black ink:] 'FIJI'. [typed:] 'Z-3111. Viti Levu Bay. Viti Levu N.E. Ra province. Club, pineapple, Nairai make, Totokia. This form of Totokia is termed Vaka Nairai in the Nandrongan dialect and is owing to some peculiarity in its carving which was first worked in the island of Nairai. This specimen was procured by the Baron A von Hugel whilst stuck on a reef in the Governors steamer "Fitzroy", March 28 th: 1875.' [stamped in black ink:] 'THE VON HÜGEL COLLECTION CIRCA 1875'. [stamped in blue ink in the bottom right corner:] 'SHOW CASE NUMBER 7'. A small round red sticker pasted to the front of the card.
Catalogue card 2 reads [handwritten in black ink:] 'Z. 3111. Club, Pineapple, Nairai make, Totokia.
