Description (CMS Description)
Heavy club of dark wood, totokia ('pineapple' club). The head is circular in section (15.5 cm diameter approx.) and carved with 7 rows of fine and thin projecting spikes (some chipped). From the centre of the head projects a conical beak (about 11.5 cm long), tapering. The centre of the head shows a big crack. The shaft is curved at the top and circular in section. A length of hibiscus fibre is attached to the top of the shaft. The handle (lower part of the shaft) is carved with low relief tavatava patterns. Discoidal butt, carved with a line of tavatava and chipped.
