Description (Physical description)
Presentation sperm whale tooth (tabua) pierced at tip and butt, and hung on a cord of 3-ply plaited and looped coir cord. The cord is lashed with small lengths of pandanus fibre every 2 to 3 cm. The surface is very smooth and polished. Possibly smoked, although the colour of the ivory lacks the pink intensity visible on other objects. A Y-shaped incision (natural or Intentional?) is visible on the convex side of the tooth (L. Carreau, 27/12/2012).
