Description (Physical description)
Presentation sperm whale tooth (tabua) pierced at the tip and butt, and hung on a cord of twisted black and white barkcloth thanks to two small 3-ply plaited coir cords. The surface of the tooth is very smooth and polished with a strong honey-brown colour in places. Two intentional dark notches (incised or burnt) are visible at the top of the tabua and a third horizontal one at the back (L. Carreau, 27/12/2012).
