Description (CMS Description)
Necklace formed of a ?four ply plaited cord of ?hibiscus fibre decorate with a cowrie shell pendant. The back of the shell is cut. One side of the cord has broken off from the necklace and the connection between the other branch of the cord and the pendant is very fragile. The shell is secured in place by thin ties of ?hibiscus fibre, coir, and European string. Some traces of blue textile are also visible. The neck cord is fraying at the end but also where it is attached to the pendant. ‘Z 2769’ inscribed inside the shell in black ink.

Something illegible written on the plumper part of the shell on the front in pencil. May start with P or D.
