Description (CMS Description)
Necklace (sisi) formed of 40 tear-drop shaped whale teeth, pierced at the top and strung on a cord of twisted hibiscus fibre. A thick thread of metal has been inserted through the holes at the top of the teeth to strengthen the object. A few teeth have deep scratches (or intentional notches?). They are cream-coloured with engrained dirt at the front and a light yellow colour at the back. 'Z. 2758' inscribed in dark ink on the penultimate tooth from the left. '1923.H132.' inscribed in black ink on the last tooth from the left.
