Description (CMS Description)
Necklace (waseisei) formed of 34 tusks carved from whale teeth, pierced and the top and strung on a cord formed of 3 strands of 3-ply plaited coir. The tusks are long and thin, curving outwards and tapering. The tusks are of a light cream colour at the front and a yellow colour at the back. 'Z.2737' and '1884.M.40.' inscribed in black ink on the first tusk from the right.
