Description (CMS Description)
Necklace (sisi) formed of 11 whale teeth pierced at the top and strung on a cord formed of four strands of 3-ply plaited coir. A length of barkcloth and string are woven around the central cord and between the teeth. The teeth have a very light cream colour at the front and back. The natural pattern of the ivory shows in place, creating grey lines on the surface. Some of the teeth are lightly cracked.
