Description

A blackware bowl with a thickened and slightly everted rim, high shoulder, rounded body and foot ring base. Beneath the rim at one side are two adjacent holes. Decorated beneath the rim to just below the shoulder with horizontal bands of impressed markings. The base is also decorated with these markings.

Context (Amendments / updates)
This object was collected by Dr. Hugh Scott on Thursday 25th November 1948. A very similar clay bowl (1961.3) was also collected By Dr. Scott on this day and has the same label stating it was 'bought in market'. Z 16830 has a note on the label stating 'Duplicate. Not entered.' It is likely that the decision was taken not to accession this object, but at a later date it was given a Z number and entered into the Z Register instead.
