Description
Two plaster casts of a tusk, said to be the tusk of NDSHIMBAT - NGGOWL. "This and the hair ball were among the objects used in PINIVU ceremony (eating totemic ancestors) of a small clan in Mindimbit. The tusk shows scratches where small portions have been removed for incision in the PWIVU mixture. Handbook additions: The original was probably a Dugong tusk. It has since been returned to members of the clan whose ancestor it is. The tusk is said to be that of Djimbutnggowi, mythical pig and ancestor of Meva clan.
