Description

Flute - Bamboo noise-tube. Rough bamboo cylinder, now broken in 3 pieces. No plaited rings or loops. Burnt inside, quite plain.Original accession notes: " This is one of a pair with 1930.527B, but got badly broken. Used by man inside mask to modify sound of his voice. Name of mask figures is MAI. End of tube put in mouth as sing falsetto totemic songs. There should be a pair of specimens for two masked figures which perform together - elder and younger brothers." Poor
