Bullroarer - Flat ovoid piece of wood with broken tip and nicked rectangular top that is pierced near its centre. Design of face and starred diamonds and ovals on each side of main body. One side of design is filled with lime, other (which includes 2 faces) has only a few traces of red infill. Broken at tip.; Poor

Exhibited in 'Brothers Paired: Concealment and Revelation: Iatmul Ritual Art from the Sepik, Papua New Guinea', Andrews Gallery, CUMAA, February 2004-February 2006, with following label: Two instruments, known as ' crocodiles' are concealed behind the curtain at the back of the case. these powerful instruments can only be used and seen by initiated men. They are prominent during initiation rituals where they function like ' sirens' to control the movement of women, children and uninitiated men vis-à -vis the movement of initiates.
