Description (Physical description)
Man's multicoloured robe with red silk border and ties. Long-sleeved robe with short collar and overlapping front panel; made from woven cotton textile with wide yellow stripes embroidered with green and red geometric motifs alternating with multicoloured bands including blue, white, pink, green, yellow and orange; sleeves partially lined with undyed cotton and collar lined with checked cotton; interior edges trimmed with red damask silk with motifs picked out in gold thread; red silk tie below one arm and on front panel for fastening. To be worn with D 1976.254 B.

Object is a garment for men called 'gho'. From Bhutan, not Tibet as previously listed. Weaving style is typical of Bhutan and still in production. Likely a high-value gift. Pattern is called 'mentse martag' based on the dominant yellow and stripes.
