'Another India: Explorations and Expressions of Indigenous South Asia' 07/03/2017 - 22/04/2018 MAA exhibition label text reads:
Fragments: tusks and crescents
The pieces of India gathered in the studies of British scholars were used to develop a range of theories. These boar’s tusks and teeth were collected by Sir William Ridgeway, Professor of Archaeology in Cambridge. They illustrate his research on the origins of Islamic crescents, although none come from that tradition.
4. Tusks from a Naga helmet
A gift from the University Lecturer in Bengali in 1909, a label tells us these are “tusks off the front of a Naga’s helmet”.
