Description
Rough frayed bark cloth strip wrapped round two bunches of green no-longer scented leaves ("ma senanas"), bunches fastened by coil of creeper at one end. Also inside cloth ("maindetki") are two thin splinter-like bull-roarers ("ma salega' "), which have a piercing through their squared off ends and a tapering curve at their opposite ends. One bull-roarer is made of black palm, the other of a pale wood. Cloth bundle fastened loosely by hitching free end under a coil binding. Cloth very old and worn. Original accession notes: " Came in boy's basket, 28.587. Packet wrapped in bark cloth MAINDSIKI, with 2 bullroarers and 2 small bundles of scented leaves as put in arm band when masked, not known to women." Good
