Metal helmet with elaborate spike on the top. Helmet has cotton padded lining and hide chin strap. Padded brocaded silk ear and neck flaps (all one piece) of red, white and blue. Plaited silk scarves of various colours are tied around helmet, and trail down the back.

Helmet. Metal domed crown. Metal decorative adornment on centre of top. Padded interior. Plaited coloured textiles tied around crown, ends hanging down back. Flap covering back and sides (red outside, blue inside). Hide chin-straps.

Description (Physical description)
Steel helmet with decorative finial, visor, and padded silk flap. Hemispherical dome lined with padded cotton in cream and red; projecting steel visor with gilded floral motif; copper alloy finial includes openwork cage at the top and detail of a bearded face below, fixed to dome with copper rivets; padded protective ear and nape flaps of brocaded red and pink silk with blue silk lining and details picked out in metallic thread; plaited silk scarves in yellow, cream pink and purple tied around the base of the dome and hanging at the back; pink and purple scarves embroidered with thread, yellow scarf with orange and green dots; two leather straps or ties attached underneath.
