Description (Physical description)
1927.250 A-B notes : A) Carved and painted wooden totem pole depicting an eagle, a killer whale and a frog. The pole is painted in red, green, yellow, and black. While the format of the pole is characteristic the style is not typical of the Northwest coast. However the bottom creature is reminiscent of Westcoast style masks (G.Crowther).
B) Robust carved and painted wooden totem pole. The pole bears a killer whale and a bird, painted in black, red, green, blue and white. The style of carving is reminiscent of the Westcoast or Nootka (G.Crowther).; Good

Previously noted as both '?Nootka' and '?Nuu-Chah-Nulth'.
The name Nuu-Chah-Nulth replaces Nootka as the preferred collective term meaning “all along the mountains and sea”) to describe the 14 First Nations of western Vancouver Island.
The term 'Vancouver Island' has been added with queries to reflect this possible provenance

Dr Cower Reed is assumed to be Wardian Professor of Geiology, Frederick Richard Cowper Reed.
