Description (CMS Description)
Wooden priest dish, circular in shape with a ring pedestal base. Two legs projects from inside the ring inwards then upwards forming two mirrored 'L'. The base has two holes on either sides near the legs, and from one of these holes on each side a small piece of coconut coir cord emerges. The coir is plaited and died black. It appears that the cord was designed to hold parts of the base together as a result from an intentional or unintentional crack on both sides of both legs. This cord repair is indigenous, but there are also traces of glue visible in these cracks which indicates previous museum conservation repairs. The surface of the dish has several white spots of ?paint on it. The side of the lip also has spots of white ?paint on it. There is a small crack extending inwards from the lip and the surface is scratched all over. There are several indentations at the bottom of the dish.
