Necklace (waseisei) formed of 28 tusks carved from whale teeth, pierced and the top and strung on a cord of 3-ply plaited coir. An additional cord of 3-ply plaited coir is woven around the cord and between the top of the tusks. The neck cord is broken after the last tusks on both sides. It is also broken in several places along the neckline. The tusks are curving upwards and tapering. The fourth tusk from the left is split. The tusks are a light yellow at the front and a slightly darker shade of yellow at the back.
