This style of needle work is 'Lefgara isi' ['Lefgara' being the name of the village where the needlework originated, and 'isi' meaning work.] The lacework is undertaken on a pillow with the needles at the sides to mark out the pattern. From notes by Sadiye Destur, a Turkish traditional costume tailor and researcher, and translated by her niece, Zelish Tekman Ozakinsel,14 June 2012.
