Catalogue card: 'Woman' s dress of fine dark red wool with chain stitch decoration round the bodice in red, green, yellow, black, pink, blue and light blue wools. Open neck, black applique round the coloured decoration. One pocket also decorated. Hand and machine stitched. A few holes in back. Fair condition. Whole.'

Description (Physical description)
Woman's dress of red wool with multi-coloured embroidery around neck and pocket. Large, loosely-fitted dress of woven red twill with wide sleeves; decorated around the neck and shoulders with narrow appliquéd panels of chain stitch in red, green, blue, pink, black and yellow, surrounded by couched black stitching in foliate motifs; pocket on right side with internal cotton divider and also decorated with embroidery; machine stitched with a wide hem trimmed with black. Remnants of pink stitching near the hem suggest a missing appliquéd band of fabric or embroidery.
