Description (CMS Description)
Club of heavy dark wood, vunikau [from catalogue card] or soke-kia [from Clunie's type, 2003]. The head is long and carved with several protruding ovals. Top of the head projects upwards and is almost flat. The shaft is circular in section, and used to be bound - only a portion of the binding of twisted coir is left, coiled around the shaft. The handle (lower part of the shaft) is carved in low-relief with tavatava forming a panel of very thick vertical zigzags. The carved area is 16 cm long. Butt is flat. Several very deep crack running longitudinally along the shaft. A nail inserted in the handle.
