Description (Physical description)
Pole club of heavy dark wood, possibly a cross between a gadi and a bowai. The head is flared and convex at the top. The shaft is circular in section with a slight bend in the wood due to a knot. The handle is carved with deep tavatava patterns. The lower part of the handle is bound with a thin layer of barkcloth and 3-ply plaited coir cords. A length of twisted vegetable fibre attached between the carved and the bound parts. The butt is concave (L.Carreau, 25/03/2013).
