Description (CMS Description)
Large spurred club of dark wood, mada or gata. The head is provided with a small lip (tebetebe) and the underside is carved to resemble the bark of a tree. The spur is oval and pointed, with a flat surface at the top and a longitudinal ridge at the back. No additional ridge (teretere) at the junction of the head and spur. The shaft is circular in section. The handle is carved with worn tavatava patterns in low-relief. The butt is flared, slightly convex and lightly chipped (old).
