Description (CMS Description)
Oblong shaped mat of pandanus with a fringe border all the way around. The edges of the mat near the fringe border sport a band of black pandanus triangles, each triangle made up of 4 black strips. The triangles are arranged alternately in a top to tail pattern. Two oblong bands of black and yellow pandanus run parallel across the body of the mat. Each band is made up of squares, and within each square several geometric shapes can be discerned including triangles and diamonds. Each triangle is the exact opposite to the next in terms of the distribution of black/yellow coloured pandanus. The mat was very tightly wrapped, generally in good condition although the fringe is very fragile. One half of the mat is severely discoloured as a result of old display.
