Description (Physical description)
Flywhisk. shaft of dark wood, square in section at the top, turning into a circular section, and flaring towards the butt. The top of the shaft is carved with a deep groove to which are tassels of long coir fibre. Each tassel is twisted for about 3 cm, then tied with a loose knot. The surface of the wood covered in very small specks of a clear varnish-like substance (L.Carreau, 19/09/2012).
