A large cream label attached to the shaft reads [handwritten in blue pen:] 'Fly switch (I roi) From NGAU island, FIJI. 62.276a. Over.' on one side and 'Haft made of Dacrydium elatum, Taxaceae (yaka). Tress made of coconut husk fibres.' on the other side.

Description (Physical description)
Flywhisk. shaft of Dacrynium elatum wood (yaka), circular in section, and flaring towards the butt. A shallow incised line decorated the shaft about 1 cm from the butt. A round wood inlay placed in the centre of the butt. The top of the shaft extends inside the whisk, but is narrower in section. Tassels of coir fibre are attached to this projection and maintained in placed with lengths of twisted ?cotton cords (one dyed red) (L.Carreau, 19/09/2012).
