Description (CMS Description)
Very large semi-circular fishing basket (noke) formed of a circle of coconut palm leaf basketry folded in two. The edges are tied on both side with thin twisted hibiscus cord, except at the top where there is a 22 cm wide aperture. On one side, the rim of the aperture has been provided with two lengths of 3-ply plaited coir. The end plait of the basket is tied into a knot inside the basket. Very fine basketry work at the bottom of the bag (the centre of the basketry circle).
