A small round red sticker pasted to the front of the card. On the back of the card [in blue pen:] 'A= 87" x 49 1/2", 225 cm x 126 cm; B= 95" x 51" 242 cm x 131 cm; C= 80" x 45"; 201 cm x 114 cm; D= 75" x 48", 191 cm x 122 cm'.

Rectangular kula mat woven from thin strips of pandanus leaf (0.8cm). The centre of the mat has four large rectangles decorated with black patterns: two of the va'kadi vilivili ('like a swarm of black ants' - name recorded by Rod Ewins in this study of Gauan mat-making, 1982, name might differ in Vanua Levu) and two chequerboard filled with diagonal lines. Five squares of black diagonal lines decorated the centre. Black patterns not visible on the underside. Woollen border in green wool with red fringes. Longer ties of green wool in the corners. Good condition.
