Context (Production / use)
Broussonetia papyrifera (Linn.), also known as Ai Masi and Malo. The bark of the tree is used to make the material known in Fiji as masi (tapa); the patterns printed on it are made from dyes obtained from local trees (Parham 1964: 91).
