Description (CMS Description)
Rectangular mat of soft sedge (Kuta), Elaeocharis plantaginea, Cyperaceae. Strips about 0.5 cm wide. Some sedge fibres have been dyed black and woven into the mat to create a pattern of 2 lines of chequerboard pattern. The mat has been cut along one of the short sides. The long edges are decorated with a fringe of sedge fibre formed by splitting the fibres used in the mat. Hole in the centre.
