The Fiji catalogue reference cards have the following entries: " Extract from register 1918.213.1-74: Additions to the Gordon Collections presented by George A.H. Gordon and collected by his father during his governorship of Fiji from September 1875 till January 1880. (Sir A.H.Gordon was Governor of Fiji from September 1875 till January 1880. F.J.H)." " Confirm Minutes of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society 18 October 1883, and Accessions Register" . There are two cards referring to this item, one a card bearing a Z -accession number and cataloguing the individual item, and one card bearing the accession numbers 1918.213.32-49. The latter reads: " 18 earthenware vessels of various forms" and gives the box number: " 12.C.2" Exhibited: Old Show Case Number 15 (15/127); Collected by: Gordon.Sir.Arthur.Hamilton- in ? 1875

Description (CMS Description)
Water pot of glazed ceramic. Globular in shape. The top provided with a short neck decorated with raised dots and slightly flared rim. The shoulder is decorated with geometrical incisions forming a network of zigzags and triangles. It also shows five raised shaped consisting of a U shape with an extra branch in the centre, reminiscent of the end of a leba fruit or a bird's footprint. The bottom half of the pot is undecorated. The transition between the decorated and undecorated parts of the pot is marked with raised dots (some chipped). A crack on the side of the dish.
