A necked bowl-lute with four strings. Body and neck carved from a single block of wood; peg-box separate; table of wood; bridge of horn. One small sound hole beneath bridge. Twelve frets (' xiang') on body, in addition to normal four frets (' pin')on neck

Description (Physical description)
Only two strings found on object. Oblong dark wooden plectrum found loose in bottom of the box. It is unclear if this is to go with 1977.283 or part of 1977.285, as a bag with accessories for the latter was mistakenly placed in this box. As the plectrum was not found in the bag it has been kept with 1977.283 in this box.
