Description
Model house on wooden stilts. Split level house with pitched roof and small extended porch; two ladders leading up to openable doors made from slats of wood tied together with nylon cord; walls, roof and two openable window made from leaves stitched together with pink plastic ribbon; openings decorated with knotted pink and natural plant fibre and with pieces of cotton cloth; ties of plastic ribbon, nylon cord cotton cord and plant fibre used throughout; two rectangular woven mats inside the house.

A covering card in the original card index reads: ' PART COLLECTION: " From the mah meri village on Pulan Carey off the Selangor coast. The mah meri are a Senoi people (ma = person, mri = inland) call themselves ma banwan (sea people). They exploit mangrove swamp and coastal sea." from Leta Richter 27 2 1976.
