Context (Amendments / updates)
The catalogue card for 1922.386 lists the provenance as 'England, Hempstead, Norfolk'. However, the original handwritten label attached to the back of the object reads 'Hemsby, Norfolk.' Hemsby is a small village near to Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. The place and production fields have therefore been updated in accordance with the original label.

Description (Physical description)
Bullroarer, consisting of a rectangular wooden board with triangular notches cut out along the long edges. A bundled length of fibre string, looped and knotted around itself, is attached through a perforation at one end. The end with the string is rounded, the other end is flat.
