Description
Adze made of polished greenish-brown stone. Incorporating a flat butt end, flat sides which converge towards a bevelled flat cutting edge, and a truncated lens cross-section. A horizontal band of brown pigment covers the length of the adze. Of Polynesian type.

Part of a historic museum display of Asian stone tools in a cabinet drawer. Found in August 2006 below a layer of beads which formed subsequent display/storage in the Beck Bead Cabinet in the Babington Workroom.

In October 2012, Ray M.K. Ma, Assistant Curator, Antiquities & Monuments Office, Hong Kong examined this object and tentatively identified it as Bronze Age. The Period field has been updated accordingly, as previously there was no period given.
