Two sherds from cheese-making vessels. A: Piece of a sieve or colander for lifting curds. B: Part of a ' percolater' for evaporating milk by long continuous heating; this gadget prevented it boiling over. A candle-stick shaped vessel with a central hole, surrounded by a ring of smaller holes. Appenine Bronze Age, from 1600 BC
