Description
Pocket tinder tube comprising; a tube of dark grey metal decorated with a series of wavy lines, through which runs a length of orange cotton tinder; a flat oval steel attached to one side of the tube via a clamp; a chain of circular links extends from one end of the tube from which hangs an acorn shaped piece of metal stopper for extinguishing the wick, the chain then attaches to the mid point of the tube and extends down again to a loop of metal which holds a rectangular piece of agate held in place with a screw.

Description for 1954.27 A-B: 'Two pocket tinder tubes, i.e., metal tubes c. 3" long containing length of cotton tinder with an oval steel clamped (in example A, slotted) to the side, and with a worked flint secured by a light chain; example B has also a metal stopper to snuff the lighted wick.'
