Description

Twelve sherds of Red Polished, Red on White, and Black Slip Ware. One rim sherd with handle of a small bowl of cream fabric with painted decoration; everted simple rim; upwards facing horizontal loop handle, oval in section, both halves tapering upwards to a point; painted decoration: on handle horizontal lines; under rim horizontal line, below horizontal zigzag line with spaces filled with dots, below horizontal triple line; from base of handle a vertical triple line towards the centre of the base. One everted rim sherd of buff fabric with dark slip on exterior and a handle base just under rim showing an incised decoration of wavy triple lines on shoulder as well as horizontal dotted lines above on rim and below. One everted rim sherd of buff fabric with dark slip on exterior showing an incised decoration of horizontal double lines just under the rim as well as below a horizontal zigzag double line. One neck sherd with vertical rod handle, oval in section, and red slip on exterior. One tubular spout of orange fabric. One body sherd of cream fabric with an applied double-horned ridge. One body sherd of light buff fabric with dark slip on exterior and incised decoration of radiating straight triple lines as well as a wavy triple line. One body sherd of cream fabric. One body sherd of light buff fabric with remains of two handle bases next to each other, possibly from a small looped handle. Two matching body sherds of light buff fabric with two handle bases next to each other, possibly from a small looped handle; red slip on exterior, red on white on interior showing a horizontal red line. One thin-walled body sherd of red fabric with matt black slip on exterior and two applied ridges.

Context (Acquisition Details)
Transferred from the Museum of Classical Archaeology to MAA in November 1951. It was likely originally owned by the Fitzwilliam Museum and part of the transfer of Cypriot material to the Museum of Classical Archaeology around 1938.
