Description

Incomplete juglet with the base of the neck, bulbous body with a fragment of a handle attached at the shoulder, and a rounded base. Made up of a pale orange fabric with red polished exterior. Incised lime filled decoration around the upper section of the body, including concentric circles, zig-zag patterns and parallel lines. Reconstructed with sherds using adhesive and plaster infill.

Catalogue card for 1951.2017: 'Sherds from various types of vessels of Red Polished ware from Vounous including part of a horn-lug bowl from Tomb 85 (sherds). Various incised fragments with white inlay and parts of large bowls and hilt handle of red slipped ware.'

Transferred from the Fitzwilliam Museum to the Museum of Classical Archaeology in 1938, then transferred from the Museum of Classical Archaeology to MAA in November 1951. Other material from Vounous was transferred to the Nicholson Museum, National Museums Liverpool and Manchester Museum (see archive BR6/1/3 for list).
