Context (Related Documents)
An earring similar to these is sketched in a letter to William Ridgeway by an unknown (illegible) author, written on 12 August 1896 discussing gold objects from Cyprus in the collection of William Ransom. Dr Thomas Kiely, British Museum, noted on 8 June 2019 that this earring is 'similar to things we having in the BM so I assume the writer was referring to things he saw/weighed there (which is implied by the text)'. However, it is also possible that it refers to these earrings, because two other rings in the letter are also from William Ransom's collection that came to MAA in 1923 (1923.874). See W10/2/1.
