Accession No

Description

Late Hallstatt copper alloy spiral disc with bracing band, possibly from a spectacle brooch. Spiral formed from single coil of wire with circular cross-section and even thickness throughout; flat band of copper alloy with border of raised dots partially encircles the disc, secured at the centre by an iron rivet; section of band on the reverse is broken off and missing; the presence of a second band, rotated ninety degrees and now lost, is suggested by the pattern of corrosion on the reverse face of the disc.
