Description
Large curved-bow-and-disc type brooch of copper alloy. Hollow boat-shaped bow; incomplete disc-like catchplate; single-spiral spring with long pin attached. Bow surface features incised decoration consisting of a transverse band flanked by six longitudinal panels either side, each panel filled with tightly spaced chevrons. Upper surface of disc-like catchplate decorated with incised border formed of parallel lines and zigzags, the centre of the disc features four incised labyrinths. Pin and spring may be modern reconstructions.
